Getting started on your housing application

All students are eligible for on-campus housing. The housing application will ask you questions about yourself and your living and dining preferences to help determine your best fit for on-campus housing.

0. Ready to apply? Let's get started.

What type of student are you?

1. Get Admitted to Oregon State

Confirm your student status

You are considered a transfer student if you have 24 or more transferable credit hours and have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent more than a year ago. Learn more about transfer admissions.

Submit your application

Complete and submit your application for admission to Oregon State.

Register your ONID Account

Once you have been admitted (including students enrolled in the Degree Partnership Program and Educational Opportunities Program) you’ll receive an OSU Network ID (ONID) account. Your ONID serves as your university e-mail address and as a login credential for university services.

Go to the ONID website to activate your account; select “Sign Up for ONID.”

2. Research Your Options

Living on campus

We have communities that are set aside for students in their second year of college or above, including communities just for transfer students.

If you have a domestic partner or dependents, check out our on-campus family housing.

Do you want to live in a Living-Learning Community or a Special Interest Community? Does your major require or strongly encourage you to select a certain community?

3. Apply For Housing

Check your application dates

For students entering Winter Term 2021: housing application currently open (closes Dec. 31, 2020)

For students entering Spring Term 2021: housing application opens Jan. 25, 2021 (closes March 25, 2021)

For students entering Fall Term 2021: housing application opens Feb. 10, 2021. (June 1, 2021 is the priority deadline for roommate selection and room assignments; however, we will continue to accept applications for fall 2021 throughout summer 2021)

Log in and apply through the MyUHDS Web portal

The earlier you complete your application, the better your chances are of receiving your top choices. For fall applicants, you must apply by June 1, 2021 to be eligible for our online roommate matching program.

In the application, you will select your top choices for buildings and dining plan. You can return to the application to update your answers without affecting your application completion date.

Log in and apply through MyUHDS.

4. Deposit, Sign & Register

Get ready for START

You must register for a START orientation session before you can receive a room assignment. Special START sessions specific to transfer students are available.

Sign your contract

Students must sign a 2021-2022 UHDS Room and Dining Contract before they can be assigned a room. Make sure you understand the contract before you complete it.

5. Find a Roommate

Fill out the Roommate Questionnaire

Students entering in Fall 2021, who have completed their application by June 1, 2021, will receive an email with a login invitation to the My College Roomie online roommate matching system. Online roommate matching occurs between June 15, 2021 - July 10, 2021.

Filling out the My College Roomie questionnaire will help you find someone in our online roommate matching system if you want to choose your own roommate, and will help our staff match you if you do not choose your own roommate.

If you complete the housing application after June 1, 2021, our staff will match you with a roommate.

Make sure you understand how gender identity affects roommate matching, and make sure potential roommates are eligible for the same communities you are.

If you have a friend you already know you would like to live with, you both must fill out the My College Roomie questionnaire and then select each other.

Students must complete the housing application, sign a contract, and register for a START orientation session before they can receive a room assignment.

Room assignments begin

Room assignments will be sent to student email addresses beginning July 15, 2021, and will continue throughout the summer.
