Before becoming Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director of University Housing & Dining Services, Stephen most recently served as the Interim Executive Director of UHDS and Director of Residential Education at Oregon State University. During his five years at OSU, he has overseen and participated in the development of the Resident Learning Framework that guides the educational programs for residential students, a $10.5m renovation of Finley Hall, and is leading development of potential program expansion in Newport and Corvallis.
Prior to OSU, Stephen served as the Director of the Werner University Center and Student Leadership and Activities at Western Oregon University, helping to provide a comprehensive student union and student activities and leadership program for the campus.
At Eastern Oregon University, he served as the Director of Housing and Student Life where his portfolio included housing and residence life, student union, student activities and leadership, facilities scheduling, outdoor program, and food service contract management. His accomplishments at EOU included developing the first living-learning programs at EOU, overseeing the operations of two new residential facilities in their first year of operations, redeveloping a traditional student activities program into a more modern student leadership program, and working closely with students to approve a fee increase process that led to a $5.5m renovation of the Hoke Union Building — the first significant capital project for the Hoke Union Building in more than 20 years.
Additionally, Stephen has served as a campus Affirmative Action Officer and Title IX Coordinator at EOU, and worked in the Office of Student Life and University Housing at the University of Oregon.
Stephen earned a doctorate from Portland State University, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Oregon, and a Bachelor of Science in Social Science with concentrations in Anthropology and Political Science from Boise State University.
Stephen was raised in Springfield, Ore. and has worked hard to stay in this beautiful state!
