All students are eligible for on-campus housing. The housing application will ask you questions about yourself and your living and dining preferences to help determine your best fit for on-campus housing.
What type of student are you?
For first-year students moving to OSU in fall 2025:
The new student housing application opens Feb. 11, 2025, at 2 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Complete and submit your application for admission to Oregon State.
Once you have been admitted (including students enrolled in the Degree Partnership Program and Educational Opportunities Program) you’ll receive an OSU Network ID (ONID) account. Your ONID serves as your Oregon State email address and as a log-in credential for university services.
Go to the ONID website to activate your account. Remember to check your Oregon State ONID email throughout the year, as that's where we will send housing-related information and updates.
Review Oregon State’s First-Year Experience Live-On Policy.
Do you want to live in a Living-Learning Community or a Special Interest Community? Does your major strongly encourage you to select a certain community?
Take a look at our room and dining rates.
What room types or bathroom styles are you looking for? Explore your options. (Be aware that some options, such as single rooms, have very limited availability).
Which dining plan suits your needs?
Complete “part one” of the application: This part covers demographic and contact information along with your housing preferences. The earlier you complete part one, the better your chances are of receiving one of your top choices. Access the application through your housing portal.
Tips: 1) You can return to the application to update your answers later without affecting your part one completion date. 2) After part one is complete, you can begin to build your roommate matching profile to get ready for the online matching process that runs May through July.
Complete “part two” of the application: Return to the housing portal to sign a 2025-2026 UHDS Room and Dining Contract beginning April 1, 2025. You are required to sign a contract prior to being assigned a room.
Make sure you understand your contract before you complete it. Also, if you are under 18 when you sign your contract, a parent/guardian signature is also required.
"Part two" also includes selecting your dining plan for next year.
Pay your Advance Tuition Deposit confirming your intent to enroll at Oregon State.
Complete “part three” of the application: Oregon State offers an online roommate matching process accessible via the housing portal that allows students to select their own roommate. Participating is optional. Our staff will match you with another student if you do not select your own roommate.
Tips: 1) Even if you already know the person you want to live with, you'll use the online roommate matching process to connect with them in our system. 2) Make sure you understand how gender identity affects roommate matching.
Roommate matching for 2025-26 will be offered in assigned sessions between May and July.
Before you can receive a room assignment, you must register for a START orientation session. For incoming fall 2024 students, START registration begins in May 2024.
Room assignments will begin in late July 2025 and continue throughout the summer. Room assignments will be sent to students' Oregon State email addresses.
The date you receive your room assignment depends in part on the following:
