Callahan Hall has a large, recently-remodeled kitchen on the fourth floor that includes a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, and oven. It is available for all hall residents to use 24/7. Shared microwaves are also available on each floor. Cooking equipment can be checked out from the front desk.
Callahan Hall has a large main lounge available on the first floor with games, couches, and free cable television. An additional lounge on the fourth floor adjacent to the kitchen has couches and big-screen TV. Additional study spaces are available throughout the building.
EXPLORE: Callahan Hall is home to the Explore Living-Learning Community, in partnership with the University Exploratory Studies Program. This community is in the fourth floor of the building. EXPLORE is focused on major and career exploration. Students can explore their interests, values and goals through special programs, experiential learning, community building and coursework. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff and fellow students as they explore options outside the classroom.
First year students in any major who are committed to exploration are invited to join EXPLORE.
The Residential Area Director is a professional staff member who lives in Callahan Hall and supervises other Resident Directors as well as the Callahan Hall student staff members. Residents can contact the RAD for support, questions about room changes, and help transitioning to college. RADs also advise hall area councils and can help students find campus leadership opportunities.
The live-in student staff members of Callahan Hall include resident assistants for each floor, as well as one Community Relations Facilitator and one Academic Learning Assistant. Contact student staff members with questions about your building as well as for help with personal, social and academic needs, and general community issues.
