About Callahan Hall

Kitchens

  • Callahan Hall has a large, recently-remodeled kitchen on the fourth floor that includes a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop, and oven. It is available for all hall residents to use 24/7.
  • Shared microwaves are also available in each floor kitchenette/lounge. Cooking equipment can be checked out from the front desk.
  • For the 2020-21 academic year, cooking supplies are not available for residents to check out.

Lounges

  • Callahan Hall has a large main lounge available on the first floor with games, couches, and a large-screen television.
  • An additional lounge on the fourth floor adjacent to the kitchen has couches and big-screen TV.
  • Additional study spaces are available throughout the building.
  • For the 2020-21 school year, in order to comply with state guidelines regarding physical distancing, all common areas will have a maximum occupancy sign posted, and some lounges and common areas will be closed.
  • For the 2020-21 school year, residents need to bring their own game equipment like ping-pong paddles or pool cues; shared equipment is not available.

Laundry Room

Laundry in Oregon State University residence halls is free for residents; no coins or cards are required.

  • The Callahan Hall laundry room is located on the first floor down the west wing custodial hallway.
  • Residents should bring their own laundry soap and other supplies.
  • Liquid detergent is preferred.
  • Laundry pods must be placed in the washer itself.

Trash and Recycling

Each resident room has a bin for trash and a bin for recycling. When the room bins are full, residents need to empty them in the building's trash and recycling areas.

  • Bottles, cans and paper: recycle these items inside, in the gray recycling bins in the lobby area on the ground floor.
  • Corrugated cardboard: recycle cardboard outside, in the cardboard bin on the northwest side of the building by the bicycle racks.
  • Trash: empty your trash can outside, in the dumpster inside the fenced area on the northwest side of the building by the bicycle racks..

Living-Learning Communities

Callahan is not home to any special interest or living-learning communities. All Oregon State students are eligible to live in Callahan Hall.

Hall Staff

Professional Staff: Each hall has a professional staff member who lives on campus, supervises student staff members, and is available to meet with students one-on-one for guidance and support.

Student Staff: A team of student staff members lives in Callahan Hall to assist residents.
