All residence halls close at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024; all residents are required to move out by this time or within 24 hours of their last final, whichever comes first. Students needing to depart after the end of the Contract Term on June 14, 2024, at 5 p.m. must be pre-approved by designated UHDS Operations staff and pay applicable late stay fees of $25 per day.

Only two types of late stay requests will be approved:

  • students who are graduating or are officially required to participate in Commencement events on Saturday, June 15, 2024. This does not include attending a friend or family member's graduation event.
  • students who can provide documentation of a final after 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, June 14, 2024.

All students approved to stay late must be completely checked out by the following deadlines:

  • For students with Friday finals: 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, June 15, 2024.
  • For students participating in Commencement: 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

Requests to stay past 5 p.m. on June 15, 2024, will not be considered.

 

How to request to stay late:

In order to be considered for a late stay past 5 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, you must submit a late stay application via the Housing Portal.

This request must be submitted by 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024. Requests made after June 13, 2024, will not be considered.

Submitting a request to stay late is not an automatic approval to stay late. UHDS staff will follow up with all late stay requests and provide an email to your OSU ONID email to either approve or deny the request.

 

Summer Housing

Students who have signed up for summer housing do not have to sign up for late stay. You will receive more information about transitioning from your Spring room to your Summer room in June.
