Each Bloss room includes an in-room sink.

Bloss rooms have an adjacent semi-private restroom with a toilet and shower. Residents with suite-style restrooms are responsible for cleaning their own restrooms.

About the building

Kitchens

  • Bloss Hall has a shared kitchen on the first floor that includes a refrigerator, microwave, cooktop and oven. It is available for all hall residents to use 24/7.
  • Shared microwaves are available in kitchenettes on each floor.
  • Check with the hall staff to see what amenities are available at the desk, which might include additional cooking equipment or games.

Lounges

  • Bloss Hall has a large, recently remodeled lounge on the first floor that features games, comfy furniture and a large-screen TV.
  • Other meeting rooms and study spaces are available throughout the building.

  

Laundry Room

 

Laundry in Oregon State University residence halls is free for residents; no coins or cards are required.

  • The Bloss Hall laundry room is located on the west side of the first floor.
  • Residents should bring their own laundry soap and other supplies.
  • Liquid detergent is preferred.
  • Laundry pods must be placed in the washer itself.
  • Use the Campus CleanPay app to monitor laundry status. (App set-up instructions are posted on site.)

  

Trash and Recycling

 

Each resident's room has a bin for trash and a bin for recycling. When the room bins are full, residents need to empty them in the building's trash and recycling areas.

  • Bottles, cans and paper: recycle these items inside, in the gray, metal recycling bins in the lobby area on the ground floor.
  • Corrugated cardboard: recycle cardboard outside, in the cardboard bin inside the fenced area on the northwest side of the building.
  • Trash: empty your trash can outside, in the dumpster inside the fenced area on the northwest side of the building.

  • Indoor bike storage room in basement 
  • Outdoor covered bike storage area on the east side of the building near the ILLC 
  • Outdoor uncovered bike racks at both outdoor entrances 

Restrooms in Bloss Hall

  • All rooms in Bloss Hall have semi-private restrooms containing a shower and toilet; these are shared only with other residents of the adjacent suite.
  • Residents of suite-style restrooms are responsible for cleaning their own restrooms. Restrooms in common areas are cleaned daily by UHDS custodial staff.

South side neighborhood

The south side neighborhood features four residence halls: Bloss, Finley, Halsell and the International Living-Learning Center. Dining options include Southside Station @ Arnold, Cascadia Café and Cascadia Market & Deli. Southside residents live close to the Beth Ray Center for Academic Support. The Center offers programs and services to help students achieve their collegiate academic goals.  

For those who want to be part of Oregon State game days, this neighborhood is the place to be with Reser Stadium, Goss Stadium, Gill Coliseum and the Beaver Store. Softball, soccer, and track and field facilities are also nearby. Fans of the arts can visit the LaSells Stewart Center, a premier performing arts venue for concerts, performances and gallery exhibitions throughout the year.

Special Interest Communities

Second-Year and Above: The seventh floor of Bloss Hall is a Second-Year and Above Community. This community is for students who have completed at least one year at Oregon State or are graduate students.

Transfer Students: The seventh floor is home to a Transfer Student community for students transferring to Oregon State after previously completing post-high school coursework at another institution of higher learning. 

Hall Staff

Professional Staff: Each hall has a professional staff member who lives on campus, supervises student staff members, and is available to meet with students one-on-one for guidance and support.

Student Staff: A team of student staff members lives in Bloss Hall to assist residents.
