About the building

Student cooking in Finley Hall kitchen.

Kitchens

  • Finley has a spacious, recently remodeled kitchen on the ground floor that includes a full-size refrigerator, freezer, oven, stovetop, microwave and sink. Residents have access to the kitchen 24/7.
  • In addition, each floor has a shared microwave in the floor lounge available for resident use.
  • Check with the hall staff to see what amenities are available at the desk, which might include additional cooking equipment or games.

Lounges

  • Finley Hall has several large, recently remodeled lounges on the ground floor with large-screen TVs, study areas, games and couches.
  • In addition, each floor has smaller lounges where students can gather to study or socialize.

  

Laundry Room

 

Laundry in Oregon State University residence halls is free for residents; no coins or cards are required.

  • The Finley Hall laundry room is located on the west side of the first floor.
  • Residents should bring their own laundry soap and other supplies.
  • Liquid detergent is preferred.
  • Laundry pods must be placed in the washer itself.
  • Use the Campus CleanPay app to monitor laundry status. (App set-up instructions are posted on site.)

  

Trash and Recycling

 

Each resident's room has a bin for trash and a bin for recycling. When the room bins are full, residents need to empty them in the building's trash and recycling areas.

  • Bottles, cans and paper: recycle these items inside, in the gray, metal recycling bins in the lobby area on the ground floor.
  • Corrugated cardboard: recycle cardboard outside, in the cardboard bin in the parking lot on the north side of the building.
  • Trash: empty your trash can outside, in the dumpster in the parking lot on the north side of the building.

  • Outdoor uncovered bike racks near both building entrances and near the OSU Parking Garage
  • Outdoor covered bike storage area across the south side quad near the ILLC 
  • Partially covered outdoor bike storage on the northeast side of the building

South side neighborhood

The south side neighborhood features four residence halls: Bloss, Finley, Halsell and the International Living-Learning Center. Dining options include Southside Station @ Arnold, Cascadia Café and Cascadia Market & Deli. Southside residents live close to the Beth Ray Center for Academic Support. The Center offers programs and services to help students achieve their collegiate academic goals.  

For those who want to be part of Oregon State game days, this neighborhood is the place to be with Reser Stadium, Goss Stadium, Gill Coliseum and the Beaver Store. Softball, soccer, and track and field facilities are also nearby. Fans of the arts can visit the LaSells Stewart Center, a premier performing arts venue for concerts, performances and gallery exhibitions throughout the year.

Living-Learning Communities

Adventure Living-Learning Community: The Adventure LLC, a partnership with the Adventure Leadership Institute, allows residents to gain leadership skills while exploring Oregon's varied landscapes. By attending a variety of courses and programs, including adventure trips, skill workshops, and social gatherings, students develop lifelong leadership qualities in combination with environmental ethics and outdoor skills. The Adventure LLC is open to students from any major and is located on the second floor.

Special Interest Communities

ROTC Floor: Students who participate in the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) have the opportunity to live with other ROTC students who adhere to the same rigorous schedule. The ROTC Community is located on the seventh floor of Finley Hall.

Hall Staff

Professional Staff: Each hall has a professional staff member who lives on campus, supervises student staff members, and is available to meet with students one-on-one for guidance and support.

Student Staff: A team of student staff members lives in Finley Hall to assist residents.
