About West Hall
Eligibility: Only students in the Honors College are eligible to live in West Hall.
Room types: All rooms in West are arranged in two-bedroom suites and a small number of three-bedroom suites. Suites share a semi-private restroom. Residents are responsible for cleaning their own in-suite restrooms. Two different bedroom types are available within the suites:
- 7 percent suite-style single rooms
- 93 percent suite-style double rooms
West Hall has semi-private restrooms.

Each West room includes an in-room sink.
West rooms have an adjacent semi-private restroom with a toilet and shower.
West beds can be bunked or lofted with a UHDS rental loft kit.

Kitchens
- West Hall has a large kitchen and dining area on the first floor, equipped with several cooktops, ovens, a full-size refrigerator and freezer, sinks and a microwave.
- In addition, each floor has a shared microwave available for resident use.
- Check with the hall staff to see what amenities are available at the desk, which might include additional cooking equipment or games.
- Kitchens are available to residents 24/7.
Lounges
- West Hall has a large lounge on the first floor with cable TV, games, couches, and space to study and relax.
- In addition, there are smaller lounges on every floor where residents can socialize and study.
- Lounges are available to residents 24/7.
Floor Plans
Laundry Room
Laundry in Oregon State University residence halls is free for residents; no coins or cards are required.
- The West Hall laundry room is located in the basement.
- Residents should bring their own laundry soap and other supplies.
- Liquid detergent is preferred.
- Laundry pods must be placed in the washer itself.
- Use the Campus CleanPay app to monitor laundry status. (App set-up instructions are posted on site.)
Trash and Recycling
Each resident's room has a bin for trash and a bin for recycling. When the room bins are full, residents need to empty them in the building's trash and recycling areas.
- Bottles, cans and paper: recycle these items inside, in the gray metal recycling bins located in the ground floor dining lounge, near the vending machine.
- Corrugated cardboard: recycle cardboard outside, in the cardboard bin on the south side of the building along Intramural Lane.
- Trash: empty your trash can outside, in the dumpster on the south side of the building along Intramural Lane.

Restrooms in West Hall
All rooms in West Hall have semi-private restrooms containing a shower and toilet; these are shared only with other residents of the adjacent suite.
Residents are responsible for cleaning their own in-suite restrooms.

West side neighborhood
The bustling west side neighborhood features Buxton, Cauthorn, Hawley, Poling, Sackett, Weatherford and West residence halls. Dining options abound in this neighborhood with Marketplace West dining center, the Memorial Union, Bing’s Café at Weatherford, Trader Bing’s and Dixon Café all nearby.
For indoor or outdoor fitness and recreation options, the west side offers outdoor sport fields, tennis courts and the Dixon Rec Center which includes gyms, courts, a climbing center, fitness studios, an indoor track and an aquatics center.
In the middle of it all, the Memorial Union hosts a regular lineup of events and art displays, and offers printing services, an ATM and access to banking services. It’s also home to MU Lanes & Games, a student-run recreation facility that includes bowling, billiards, arcade games and a gaming lounge!

Living-Learning Communities
Honors College: West Hall is one of two halls that are home to the Honors College Living-Learning Community. Only admitted Honors College students may live in West Hall. Weekly programs and activities for Honors College students are planned in West Hall.
Hall Staff
Professional Staff: Each hall has a professional staff member who lives on campus, supervises student staff members, and is available to meet with students one-on-one for guidance and support.
Student Staff: A team of student staff members lives in West Hall to assist residents.
