All residence halls close at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026; all residents are required to move out by this time or within 24 hours of their last final, whichever comes first. Students needing to depart after the end of the Contract Term on June 12, 2026, at 5 p.m. must be pre-approved by designated UHDS Operations staff and pay applicable late stay fees at a daily rate.
Reminder, the two most common types of late stay requests that will be approved are:
- For students who are graduating or are officially required to participate in Commencement events on Saturday, June 13, 2026. This does not include attending a friend or family member's graduation event.
- For students who can provide documentation of a final after 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, June 12, 2026.
All students approved to stay late must be completely checked out by the following deadlines:
- For students with Friday finals: 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
- For students participating in Commencement: 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Requests to stay past 5 p.m. on June 13, 2026, will not be considered.
How to request to stay late:
In order to be considered for a late stay past 5 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, you must submit a late stay application via the Housing Portal starting May 19, at 10:00 a.m.
This request must be submitted by 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Requests made after June 11, 2026, will not be considered.
Submitting a request to stay late is not an automatic approval to stay late. UHDS staff will follow up with all late stay requests and provide an email to your OSU ONID email to either approve or deny the request.
Summer Housing
Students who have signed up for summer housing do not have to sign up for late stay. You will receive more information about transitioning from your spring room to your summer room in June.
