Getting started on your housing application

All students are eligible for on-campus housing. The housing application will ask you questions about yourself and your living and dining preferences to help determine your best fit for on-campus housing.

Ready to apply? Let's get started.

What type of student are you?

1. Get admitted to Oregon State

Submit your application

Complete and submit your application for admission to Oregon State as a graduate student. Learn more about graduate admissions.

Register your ONID Account

Once you have been admitted, you’ll receive an Oregon Network ID (ONID) account. Your ONID serves as your university email address and as a log-in credential for university services.

Go to the ONID website to activate your account; select “Activate your ONID.”

2. Research your options

What living environment is right for you?

We have specific buildings, wings and floors that are set aside for students who are in their second year of college or above. See our second-year and above housing options.

If you have a domestic partner or dependents, check out our on-campus family housing.

If you are looking for an on-campus apartment, you could consider The Gem or 1045 SW Madison Ave.

Which residence halls fit your budget?

Take a look at our room and dining rates. (Rates for the 2024-25 academic year will be released in spring 2024.)

Which dining plan suits your needs?

3. Apply for housing

Students entering OSU fall term 2024 can apply to live in the residence halls for the 2024-25 academic year beginning Feb. 6, 2024.

Log in and apply through the housing portal.

Complete "part one" in the application: along with providing demographic and contact information, you will select top choices for communities you'd prefer to live in. The earlier you complete part one of the application, the better your chances are of receiving an assignment in one of these spaces.

You can return to the application to update your answers later without affecting your part one completion date.

4. Sign your housing contract

Complete "part two" in the application: return to the housing portal to sign a 2024-2025 UHDS Room and Dining Contract beginning May 2, 2024. You are required to sign a contract prior to being assigned a room. Make sure you understand your contract before you complete it.

Students with a submitted housing application and signed contract by June 30 will be eligible to participate in online roommate matching and will be given priority for a room assignment on campus.

We will continue to accept applications and contracts for fall 2024 beyond June 30; however, those assignments will be made only on a space-available basis.

5. Room assignment

Graduate student room assignments will be sent to student ONID email addresses beginning in August and will continue throughout the summer.
