Women in Science and Engineering

The fifth floor of Buxton Hall is home to a Women in Science and Engineering wing, an opportunity for women in STEM fields to live in community with other engineering and science students who identify as women.

About Buxton Hall

Buxton Hall is a five-story building located on the west side of campus. Buxton, along with Hawley and Cauthorn halls, is home to the College of Engineering Living-Learning Community. These three halls house primarily engineering students and their roommates. Resources provided for students in these buildings include:

  • Programming and workshops designed to support students in the engineering fields.
  • Interaction with COE faculty and advisors to learn about courses, research and ways to get involved on campus.
  • The ability to create strong friendships with students with similar interests and passions.
  • Access to the DAMlab Makerspace on the ground floor of Buxton Hall.

DAMlab Makerspace

Students in the Women in Science and Engineering community have 24/7 access to the DAMlab, a lab stocked with tools for design and prototyping. The Makerspace, created in partnership with the College of Engineering and the College of Business, gives students the chance to get hands-on experience with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines and more.
