Fall Term Move-In

Move-in for fall term will be a multi-day process taking place from Sept. 22-24, 2023. Students will receive an assigned move-in date based on their hall assignment, but will be able to select a preferred time slot on that day for when to arrive on campus (subject to availability). Student move-in time slots will be visible in your housing portal when room assignments are issued.

Our residence halls are distributed among the three days of move-in, so that each day is as efficient and traffic-free as possible. (Traffic flow maps by day are here.)

  • Moving in on Friday, Sept. 22: West, Sackett, McNary, ILLC
  • Moving in on Saturday, Sept. 23: Hawley, Buxton, Cauthorn, Finley, Callahan, Tebeau
  • Moving in on Sunday, Sept. 24: Weatherford, Poling, Halsell, Bloss, Wilson

Move-In 2023: Tips & Reminders

WINTER, Spring and Summer Term arrivals

If you are moving to campus mid-year or during an academic term other than fall term, check your housing portal for your room assignment info. When you arrive on campus, please go to the Service Center that works with the building you will be living in. Service Center staff will provide you with your room key and direct you to your building. Contact the UHDS administrative office with any questions.

International Student Arrivals

If you are an international student admitted through the INTO OSU program, contact INTO OSU for arrival dates and info. Read more information for International Students.

Traffic Flow & Parking (Fall term only)

Entrance to campus on your assigned move-in day will be based on your residence hall assignment. Please follow the driving instructions in the Move-In Guide, and do not rely upon GPS or other navigation tools to find alternate routes as this may cause disruptions.

Each student will receive one vehicle unloading zone pass to use during move-in. Park in the designated unloading zone at your hall and unload your belongings promptly, like you would drop someone off at the airport. After unloading, vehicles should be moved to long-term parking away from move-in activities.

Getting Ready

Check and confirm your arrival time

Before you plan your move, check your housing portal for your arrival date and time. Additional instructions for Fall term arrivals will be in the printed Move-In Guide mailed to your home address later in the summer.

Reserve a loft kit

If you would like to rent a loft kit, please sign up via the link in your housing portal. The charge for a loft kit will be billed to your student account in fall term. For more information on loft kit reservations, please view the loft kit page.

Upload your ID Photo

Upload a photo of yourself and a photo of a government-issued form of identification to the OSU ID Center so that your student ID card will be ready for you to pick up on move-in day. See the ID Center website for photo requirements and instructions.

Make note of your mailing address

You can find your mailing address and mailbox information online via your housing portal. Remember that your mailbox number is different than your room number.

Sign up for Personal Property (Renters) Insurance

UHDS recommends purchasing Personal Property or Renters Insurance either through your family’s existing account, or through one of many insurance agencies.

Plan your transportation

With easy access to grocery stores, restaurants and other destinations within walking distance from campus, many students find bringing a car is not necessary. For destinations further from campus, students ride bicycles, take the Corvallis Transit System (CTS) for free, or rent a ZipCar.

If you need to bring a car, secure a parking permit before bringing your vehicle to campus. Parking permits are required year-round on the OSU Corvallis campus. On-campus residents are only eligible for R parking permits, which can sell out. More information about purchasing a residential parking permit can be found on the Transportation Services website.

Make Your Move: Instructions for move-in day

What to do when you get here

Step 1: On your assigned day and time, use the traffic flow map in your Fall 2023 Move-In Guide to determine which route into campus you should take based on your residence hall. (For arrivals other than Fall term, go straight to the Service Center for your residence hall.)

Step 2: Follow UHDS staff instructions to your check in area or Service Center, where you will receive your room key. The traffic flow maps below can also provide a guide for how you will travel through campus.

Step 3 (Fall term only): Park in the designated unloading zone at your hall and unload your belongings promptly, like you would drop someone off at the airport.

Step 4: Once you've finished unloading, move your vehicle to a long-term parking area. The parking structure at 26th & Washington or any long-term lot away from move-in activities is ideal.
