The EXPLORE living-learning community, located in Callahan Hall, is a space for students excited to intentionally explore their major and career options. Students in this community will be able to explore their interests, values, and goals in relation to academic and career options by gathering information through programming, experiential learning, community building, and coursework.
Created in partnership with the University Exploratory Studies Program, residents will have the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff, and other students in exciting ways as they explore their options. This active exploration will prepare students to make well informed academic and career decisions. This process of exploration will be guided by three step decision making model focusing on self-assessment, exploring academic and career options, and deciding and acting.
This community is open to all first-year students in any major who are committed to exploration. Students planning to start in the University Exploratory Studies Program are highly encouraged to live in this community.
It is HIGHLY recommended that residents living in EXPLORE complete the associated two credit seminar course. Participation in this course builds community and eases the transition into college. Topics covered in this course include:
EXPLORE Living-Learning Community Coordination: In conjunction with Callahan staff, the Coordinator oversees the EXPLORE community program, teaches the seminar course, coordinates activities, and advises EXPLORE students in the University Exploratory Studies Program.
