Community Relations Facilitator (CRF)

Description: The Community Relations Facilitator position requires a strong commitment to the principles of and action for social justice. There are 14 CRFs, one in each residence hall. They are responsible for building inclusive, overlapping and collaborative relationships between residents, UHDS staff and the campus through the development, execution, evaluation and promotion of social justice education. This is accomplished through workshops, bulletin boards and events and by serving as a UHDS ambassador to campus partners who work to build a socially just campus through resources, services and programs. CRFs are supervised by the Assistant Director for Diversity Initiatives and Programs in UHDS, and are supported in their efforts by their Resident Director and staff team.

Before you begin filling out the new CRF application, please take some time to make sure you have all the materials needed to complete your application


Essay Questions

Please draft your responses to the essay questions prior to beginning the application. We highly suggest drafting your answers in a word processor prior to starting the application. The essay questions are:

  1. Please read over the Community Relations Facilitator (CRF) position description. As you see, the CRF position is multifaceted and requires a variety of skills and qualities. What skills and experiences do you have that will help you be successful as a CRF? Please include specific examples of times when you demonstrated these attributes.
  2. Please describe your understanding, interest and experience with social justice. Are there any campus resources you’ve sought out in your social justice journey?
  3. Please think about a time when you engaged in conversation with someone about a diversity and/or social justice topic. What were the challenges and opportunities you encountered and what did you learn from that experience?
  4. Please describe your experience in building relationships and having a positive impact on a community? How would you use that experience in your role as a CRF? 



You will also need to have an up to date resume for your application. Please make sure you have your resume completed in a word or PDF file (.doc, .docx, .pdf). If you would like to know more about creating a resume, please contact the Career Development Center.



You will need to provide a name, email address, and phone number for TWO references.  Choose people who know you well and can speak to your potential ability to be a successful CRF, with focus on the minimum and preferred qualifications of the CRF position description.  One of these references must be from an Oregon State University affiliate.  Please do not use a parent or other family member to serve as a reference.  And remember to let your references know you are listing their information should we contact them!
