The Arts + Social Justice Living Learning Community is only available for the current academic year of 2016-2017, after that it will no longer be available.
The Arts + Social Justice Living Learning Community creates a space where residents explore social justice issues through art and creative expression. Aligned with the mission of the US Department of Arts and Culture, a people-powered national action network, we invite creativity in the service of empathy, equity, and social imagination.
The community is designed for students of all majors who desire to engage in meaningful conversations about immigrant, Trans*, Queer, people of color, women, ability, gender identity, class, indigenous, and religious communities, issues, and social movements through art. The community is open to all students, inclusive of all backgrounds and identities who are interested in these topics.
We hope that the process of making art, taking courses, and attending programs together creates a vibrant culture of arts and activism at Oregon State. The strength, skills, and awareness gained from academic coursework and co-curricular programming will equip you to challenge paradigms and transform the lives of our residents, our campus community and our world.
The ASJLLC is a collaboration: Ethnic Studies (ES), Diversity & Cultural Engagement, Queer Studies (QS), Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS), College of Liberal Arts, School of Arts & Communications, and University Housing and Dining Services.
